Wallace the Brave by Will Henry for November 16, 2015
Transcript:
Wallace: I hope they cancel school tomorrow. Mr. McClellan: This is nuthin' Wallace. Back in my day, I'd have to walk to school even in the nastiest blizzards. Wallace: No waaaay! Mr. McClellan: Yep, and it was uphill both ways. Wallace: Well, that doesn't make any sense. Mr. McClellan: There was much more seismic activity back then.

Haha. Not even Wallace fell for that one. Also – I’m not ready for the snow.

I love this strip. It shares so much DNA with “Cul de Sac” and “Calvin and Hobbes” (https://www.gocomics.com/calvinandhobbes/1986/11/26) yet it’s completely, uniquely original.

My dad literally had to do that. He walked downhill from his house, then up the hill to school, and then did the reverse going home. Thought it was just dad being funny until I saw where he grew up. :)

My great nieces and nephews do not believe there was ever a time when I had only four TV channels. They think I’m exaggerating and just roll their eyes. It’s made me start rethinking my skepticism when my grandparents told me about walking to school in the snow, uphill both ways.
