I grew up with three sisters. With mom in the house, I couldn’t catch a break as every week one of them was going through the cycle. I got over the stigma of buying feminine hygiene products at a young age…..
My first cousin who was my Dad’s age, had 6 daughters, no sons, and a wife. The girls were all around my age, and we visited several times a year. You can imagine the vibes in that household through the years in the 50’s and 60’s!
I have never thought that any man in this (well, maybe that one friend of John’s) was a jerk. They had corny senses of humor and some faults, but so do the women- and, for that matter, everybody I know in real life! Despite being cartoony, the people (men and women both) acted a lot like people I knew growing up, which made it extra-fun to follow.

in the future, Elly gets a third child… and it’s also a girl (then Michael will be like Lawrence having three female siblings)

Does anyone remember if this set up worked out. I can’t remember what happens…it’s been so long. I seem to remember Lawrence and her husband at odds.

Lynn’s Notes:
You can say something serious if the punch line is light. This was my way of keeping the characters “cartoons,” while covering a sensitive topic.
