Amen again. I don’t accept salesmen calling me by my first name. I ONCE called my father by his first name, Funny how I should remember that 45 years later I’m still ashamed.
Okay, I’m feeling like a young whippersnapper now, even though I’m 51. There were a few people we always called “Mr.” or “Mrs.” but they were old enough to be my grandparents. My parents’ friends were called by their first names once I became an adult. (I honestly don’t remember talking to them much when I was a child, or what I called them when I did.) I don’t like being called “Mrs.” even though I’ve had to put up with it. Not that I mind being married, it is just that it seems so impersonal to me - they could be referring to my mother-in-law (blech!) or my sister-in-law (double blech!) or if I died, my husband’s next wife. I’m guessing my mom felt the same way, because people usually called her by her first name, and I never heard her complain.

I love Flo’s expression in the last frame – You can’t miss her meaning!
