Reminds of the joke about the two farmers. One owns a duck who has strayed unto the land of the other. The second declares he is tired of the other guys animals wondering unto his land, so he plans to keep the duck and eat it.
The first becomes infuriated and challenges the other to a fight, the winner getting possession of the duck. They agree to a plan in which each will alternate hitting the other 3 times and whoever gives in gets the duck.
Well the original owner goes first and winds and hits the other with 3 very fierce punches leaving the other very sore. As the second man plans to deliver his blows, the first turns and walks away saying, Go ahead, you win, eat the duck.

This gag was used in the Abbott & Costello movie Hold That Ghost, in which Lou was a gullible soda jerk in a diner.
