Jason: Back when I was five, I couldn't climb a tree like this at all. When I was seven, I could maybe get onto that first bench. But now that I'm 10, I can climb all the way to the very top with barely any effort. I knew I was too old to see "Tarzan" Marcus: Your Mom says if you can move your leg, it's probably not broken!

If you can even see such a skinny leg, hopefully it’s not broken.

Gee, thanks, Dr. Mom!! Now I won’t need to see someone who KNOWS what they’re talking about. LIKE A REAL DOCTOR!

When I was 5, I often climbed trees like that, for the same reason as squirrels. I was little. It was safer there. If I fell out, it probably wouldn’t hurt worse than the bullies were planning anyway, & they’d run away to avoid blame. Sometimes you can watch people & learn things you wouldn’t, if they knew you were there. Or check out the birds & bugs & bats. When I wanted down, I’d just jump. 5 year olds aren’t as fragile as they look. If you over-react, they will, too.
