See, the real effectiveness of satire depends on the individual point of view ( politically speaking ) of any given reader. If satire is aimed at someone or something you tend to agree with , then it is a “cheap shot”. If a cartoon satirizes someone you view unfavorably, then it is “on target”. People believe what they believe. One cartoon
won’t shatter someone’s world view, and I wouldn’t want it to.
P.S. - I believe in global warming -melting permafrost and
melting glaciers are kind of hard to ignore. But here’s an
inconvenient truth - I also happen to think Al Gore is something of a buffoon, and I think the effectiveness of
his film will probably be eclipsed by…well, by Al Gore himself.
Just remember, add the number of dives and surfaces. As long as you end up with an even number, you’ll be okay, sir (can’t bring myself to calling him a Captain)
