Oh, yummy! I’d like some of that cake, please! This is so Cal and there’s currently a birthday party down the street with Mariachi music. Wish we were invited, I can smell the Mexican food!
We would have street parties (once upon a time) Nobody was invited, but people from blocks away would show up. Our block rocked. the police only asked that we put the furniture back into the house before we passed out.I still dream about the house at 102 S19th Street.
My younger neighbor (40 something, married, three kids) told me one New Years Eve that he hoped I wouldn’t mind the noise from his party he was having that night. As I recall it broke up before 11 and their lights were off by midnight!
Our next door neighbors had a pool party once just after we moved in. They weren’t especially loud, except on of the guys sitting out on the deck was telling stories loudly and filled his monologue with f-bombs. Funny thing is that was almost 5 years ago and they haven’t had a party since.

Noise isn’t such a problem when you all get tired early and go to bed by 8:30.

Hmmmm, I see that the women outnumber the men. A sad commentary on what happens with advancing pluggerhood.
