"summer in the city" Poetry by Heart Hey hidey o! Where'd Dean's little swim trunks go? He laid them there so they could dry, a homeless man then happened by-zippity zippity Zed! Now Dean's trunks are on his head. I ran across the burning street, and now I have two burning feet. Flick! Flick! Flick! I had an ice cream cone to lick. Plip! Plap! Plop! On the sidewalk it did drop. And since the sun will melt it soon, I now must eat it with a spoon. This summer I saw some scary things, I saw a pigeon with three wings! A scary dog! A scary cat! I even saw a scary rat! But the scariest thing of them all: A "back to school sign at the mall.

Those “Back to school” signs were up before July was over. That’s just plain nasty!

Dean took off his trunks in the middle of the street?

I’m reading “flick” three times, right?

I hope so, joefish25. It took me several attempts before I could read it that way. I kept getting caught up because what I thought I was reading didn’t rhyme with “lick”… XD

There’s a reason why most cartoon balloon writers avoid the word “flick”…
