Adam: Katy thinks I should change my main character to a monkey. Laura: What? In your novel? Adam: It's not a horrible idea. Look at "Watership Down". It could be interesting. His whole banana obsession would make a lot more sense. Laura: That did seem kind of weird.

How old were you when you read it? I found it was one of those stories that I got different messages from at different stages in my life.
As for books whose main focus is on monkeys (or similar creatures), outside of the ones written by Jane Goodall there aren’t many good ones.

It would be interesting if you didn’t find out he was a monkey until the very end… and then he pointed to his religious beliefs as “proof” that he never was a monkey :)
