    F.D.R. WAS scary, but that’s showing disrespect to the Commander in Chief from the late 1930s to mid-1940s.

    Not scary at all. He was inaugurated in 1933 & died in office in 1945, in his fourth term; the only president to do so. You should really check your history,,,,,,,seriously!!

    @herdleader1953. Whether it was government spending for WPA, etc., or for WWII, it was still government spending that got us out of the Depression.

    By 1936 (long before WW-II unless you count the Spanish Civil War as prelude), unemployment had been cut in half, so they eased up on their programs and it started to rise. Reinstituting the the “make work” programs brought it back down again when WW-II intervened for the militarists to take credit. In Texas, we are still using CCC infrastructure. Good quality work.
