Our local shelter lost their in house cat to cancer.Boomer was a great cat.He had an innate sense of what dogs would be good in a dog and cat home.And, he was a all around loving cat. a great “greeter” for the shelter.
This is an open letter that the staff put together for Boomer.
Dear Boomer,We will miss having you greet us every morning, we will miss your zoomies, we will miss how you adamantly ask us to brush you every day and abruptly make us stop, we will miss how you wander around the yard and stretch at the front door, we will miss how you help us work by walking across our keyboards and pushing papers on the floor, we will even miss finding your random fur balls and how mad you get when we had to medicate you, we will miss seeing you greet everyone who comes through the shelter doors, we will miss how you test out every pillow and cat bed, we will miss how much you love cat nip, we will miss finding you in the food donation bin and in cabinets, we will miss having you sit on our laps, we will miss how you insist your wet food be served separately from your dry food, we will miss your keen canine awareness letting us know which dogs would be safe to rehome with cats, we will miss how you follow us from room to room, we will miss your purrs, squeaky meows, and headbutts. We got used to seeing you every day since your arrival on September 19, 2002. Of the thousands of cats who have entered our doors, you are the one we just couldn’t let go. Thank you for providing us all joy, comfort, love, and cuddles, and for being the Lincoln County Animal Shelter ambassador for over thirteen years. Over the past few weeks, despite special diets and care, we have watched your cheeks sink in, and felt your spine protruding; over the past few days, we have heard your labored breathing and saw your lack of energy. We weren’t surprised to hear cancer had taken over your body, but the news broke our hearts. We have to let you go now. We will miss you, Boomer, so very much.With much love, Your Staff ❤
It is snowing here. Should clear up by this afternoon.So here’s a story. Has nothing to do with today’s comic. Picture our neighbor’s house. 120 pound German Shepherd lounging on her own porch mid-morning. Mountain Lion grabs her. Her humans run after them and cat drops GS. They had to let her cross the bridge after 4 days…the wounds were too damaging. Local news story about a rogue ML. Very sad for the sweet, gentle dog, who loved to go on walks with her favorite toy – a pinecone.
@beviek the only one of your posts that shows for me is the rich cat. the other day someone posted a simialr pix reminded them of Zsa zsa. I read, she is still with us. her money however, Madoff made off with 10 mill of hers.
Just call me the Exorcist girl. My head swivels in all directions. Thank goodness my girl is happy in her little bed and has no desire to go outside. The newspapers are calling the attack by a rogue mountain lion. ?? Bold cat if ya ask me!
@Happy x 3: Great tribute to a wonderful cat, Boomer
@Hooligan918: Sad doggie story.
BTW…..Just WHERE IS Chesney-———————————I scanned some pictures today of the late, great Pierre and Nicole, Justin and Marcel. Also some adorable baby pictures of Dale and Kristen. Will post some tomorrow. Boomer and the pooch story were too much for me.

Bev, so someone has been found in the rain.
Lily Gabor will not go out in the rain though.

Beviek, Spicey, my female, hates the rain. She will hold out to the last minute. But she loves getting a microfiber rubdown when she gets home.

I love the Purina “We are cat people” commercial, especially the big guy covered with terrifying tattoos who cuddles his cat.

I have never seen a cat on a leash pulling a person on skis! That is incredible. And he rides a pony too. All around sporting cat.
