The Old Beaver was once so industrious and too busy to talk other than tree theory. But his dentures don’t allow him chew wood like he used to, and his relatives don’t visit very often, those not caught in traps and re-located. In his loneliness, he talks to the new neighbors, the Peafowl family, a snooty flock of snobs. He reminisces about his tasty trees surrounding his old comfortable lodge, now gone when the new subdivision was built...Forgive the personal indulgence. It’s a parallel story of my old neighbor, Mr. Grayson, born 1869, died 1967. He talked to me about The Past when I was very young, brought it alive to me. Read also “The Old Gravestone,” by Hans Christian Andersen. This WILL be on the test.

If you see a beaver at a party, head the other way.
