No experience at the slide can be completed without a few bruises.

Do they let kids go down slides now? Growing up in the 60s, we knew that metal slides get hot, so we would sit on pieces of waxed paper to protect our legs—by the third time down you would fly!

I used to swing SO high on the swings. Wonder if they let you do that now.

With that bonk on the head, Lucy gets her idea about a football…..

Lucy seems to fall on her head a lot at this point in the strip.

I can remember sitting halfway down the slide, not moving, on the wax paper. As we say, the anticipation exceeded the actual event.

Notice though…she’s smiling in the last panel.

I had a dog that would follow me up and then slide down.

First time on a sled and she’s already doing tricks…….

Look at panel 4 and pretend the word “up” isn’t there.

I liked Lucy much better in the early years of Peanuts.

Wow! That explains a lot!

What the heck! Are we running some kind of parallel universe here?

And now we know why she always pulls the football away at the last moment.
