If that’s unfair to her, I’m beginning to understand why she is the way she is.

Those of you who read Mad in the 60s will remember Dave Berg. One of his strips showed a little girl (almost a clone of Lucy here) complaining that Mom wasn’t dividing the pie fairly. After several panels, exasperated Mom says, “Well for heaven’s sake, what do you want?” The girl says, “I want my slice to be exactly like his… only a lot bigger!”

Some people (like Lucy) and many in real life are never sent to their room with no pie at all when they behave like this, and hence they grow up to by hyper-entitled adults.

Why did this remind me of this week’s election?

@The Old WolfI was recently re-reading some of my old Mad paperbacks, and some were by Dave Berg, and the one you mentioned was included. (Cue the scary Twilight Zone music………)

I think you better check the sights on your nine shooter, Pecos Charlie. You can’t hit the broad side of a Lucy.

Imagine two kids doing this today. Sad. What fun it was. Cowboys and Indians, GI’s and Germans—and the whole neighborhood was our playground. And you realized it was all in fun and you changed sides….and you acted like kids. Very sad what we’ve lost.

Might as well get used to this double standard early, Charlie Brown!
