In highschool I remember staying with a host family, an elderly couple whose natural form of conversation was the quarrel. I finally said one morning, “If you two don’t stop fighting, I’m going back to bed!!” They froze, amazed. “We’re not fighting!” They couldn’t believe their ears. I told them, Well it certainly sounds like it to me!!
I’ve been reading this strip since they first posted the original one—curious as to why it ever gained such popularity and thinking maybe reading from the beginning would explain. But Charlie Brown is a bald, unlikable six year old, and as far as I can tell, all of the other characters (except for Snoopy, who looked much better in his early days) are also unlikable. Why is this strip so popular? I’m genuinely interested to know what the appeal was.
