Years later, while herding the customers into the bank vault with his gun, Calvin remembered with a shudder the night he had been locked in the garage by that hellion, Roslyn. He’s show her, he vowed, as he ran amok in his adult life locking people up in dark closets and scary places and stealing their money. He had to do this, he rationalized, to keep his pal, Hobbes, in tuna. Curse that Roslyn!
LeadingEdge’s stories reminded me of a story from my childhood. I have a friend, who I’ve known since I was two. We go to the same school now, but when we were younger we didn’t go to school together, so we didn’t see each other that often. At the end of every visit, we would open the trunk to my mom’s car and try to sneak him home. Obviously the grown-ups were never fooled. It’s not really like today’s strip, since Calvin’s dad didn’t know he was there, but it still brings back some nice memories.

And yet, she will be hired again because nobody else wants to babysit him.

Well, I bet they will believe Calvin when he says he was locked in the garage… not that it would make any difference.

Has his father realized how well the babysitting went?

Well, this babysitting episode was anticlimactic! Much like Star Wars: Episode VII.
