I love, “on the quiet side”. Must be from the days before you could pull a string on the back, and the toy would say something. Actually the description is quite accurate. Hobbes has been a good companion for Calvin, in a weird sort of way. Even his mom would agree to that. That’s the genius of Watterson.. We can read it see it from both sides, at the same time, one foot in reality, one foot in Calvin’s reality..

If there’s any tiger in this neighborhood, it’s a safe bet that it’s Hobbes.

He’s a little snide

I think I remember how this goes and if I am correct it is very funny. I have all the books but I’d rather wait the same way I did originally.

This reminds me of a “Planet Tad” in MAD magazine. In it, the main character, Tad, gets his bike stolen. He puts up a sign saying his bike was stolen, and it’s red.Later, he mistakes his bike for another kid’s and pedals off. Later, when he sees the other kid’s sign it has the bike’s ID number, contact information, and even a reward. Tad thinks “I should’ve made a poster like this.”
