    That’s the trouble with dreaming about her for a year and then proposing the first time you meet her on a park bench. It’s worked in a few cases (I’ve heard of one), but they’re very rare.

    Reminds me of an old suitor I had. Proposed after we dated for six weeks. I turned him down. At this writing he has had at least six wives (we’ve lost touch, so I’ve lost count). A living example of “Marry in haste and repent at leisure”.

    My mother’s best friend’s parents got married the night they met while out on a drunk in San Fransico during prohibition. They seperated about 60 years later when he decided to die in his sleep. She followed him inside of 2 months. It does happen.
