Unfortunately it has only gotten worse over the past 36 years (Gawd, its been that long since this was drawn – WOW) and the example by Ravenswing is a great example. Rhetoric wins over substance in political debates most of the time. I want the substance! Where’s the BEEF????
Unfortunately, you are equating apples and oranges. You need to look at what happened when the Presidency and Senate were held by opposing parties. Therein lies the issue. When the Presidency and Senate are held by the same party, it happened a lot. So, I agree with waiting for the election when the office of President and the Senate are held by differing parties, but when they are the same, go for it. It’s the job of the president to nominate, the Senate to confirm, OR deny confirmation. That’s what happened to Mr. Garland, nothing else. If the shoe were on the other foot, I guarantee the Democrats would be nominating and confirming. As stated by a previous president, “elections have consequences, I won, you lost”.
