The funny thing about truth is, it has nothing to do with belief. And belief has nothing to do with truth. Belief can be fine on its own. But mixing the two generally leads to disaster.
I dunno. Just wait ‘till you’re an adult, kid, and see how it works. I’ve found over the years that telling women the unvarnished truth doesn’t often get one very far, especially in the “libido” department. “Truth” is highly over-rated.
When I was six I asked my mother if Santa Claus was real. There was a pause then she said, “No.” When I was eight she told me, “You can say anything to anyone (she was very clean-mouthed btw) if you just know HOW.” When I was ten a girlfriend told me, at the end of a field trip day, that the skirt and blouse I’d been wearing all day clashed and you NEVER wear those two colors together (red and gray). I was crushed and went home and told my mother. She said, “I would never let you got out looking bad. I would tell you the truth because that’s what friends do.” I lost her in death shortly after that and have mourned her for the past 60 years. I’m happy to say that my adult life has borne out and amplified her teaching about Truth.

Should’ve asked for a life-size Margaret Tutwiler doll, Opus.

Funny how we all look back at the “good ol’ days.” That’s simply a perception….the innocence of youth. The world has always been a train wreck.

Tell all the truth but tell it slant —
Success in Circuit lies
Too bright for our infirm Delight
The Truth’s superb surprise
As Lightning to the Children eased
With explanation kind
The Truth must dazzle gradually
Or every man be blind —

The truth shall set you free – usually by being shot or hanged…
