    Looks like the Egyptian press has made little progress since May 1967…

    For what it’s worth, Israel and Egypt are officially at peace, so maybe you could tone down the rhetoric.

    I WISH Obama were in Israel’s pocket, but the reality is quite different.

    But that is right Obama has changed his mid east policy to match the Israelies..He is making enormous pressure against Abbas to start negotiations according to Israeli conditions..which doesn’t want to retreat to 1967 borders or stop the settlements..and of course these kinds of tricks wont bring peace to the region..

    @myming -

    my comment was directed to the cartoon itself, not dtroutma’s rubber stamping thereof…

    @ Palestino - Obama hasn’t changed his policy. He’s trying to get results, so he pressures both sides.

    The Israeli conditions are simple: NO PRE-CONDITIONS. You want to talk about the impossible-to-defend pre-1967 borders? Park your tuchus at the table and we’ll talk. You don’t like settlements on land that had been used to attack civilians before 1967 and you lost in a war we had no interest in participating in, lets sit down and talk about it.

    We aren’t giving you guys a thing until we see what you’re willing to give us, and we’ve got believable guarantees that you’ll actually deliver.

    It is mostly in the interest of Israel to get durable peace. Israel gets its military might from American aid. America’s moment in the sun is fading away. Sooner or later they’ll have better things to do. Then nothing will stop hordes of POed muslims from getting their revenge and there will be no holy land to run to.

    It will be another jewish bloodbath, like there hadn’t been enough.

    After all, that’s the evangelical christian vision of the apocalypse.

    Complete and total bullshit. Israel was quite capable of defending it’s borders before 1967. And it started the 1967 war, not Egypt. If I was Abbas, I would stop the “negotiation” bullshit and declare unilateral statehood on ALL of historical Palestine.

    uh, satrapi -

    that period after “bulls^*%” should be a colon…

    The pre-1967 borders were a bad joke. Israeli defenses had to be on a hair trigger 24/7 because all major population centers were in easy enemy range.

    Egypt’s closing of the Suez Canal was an act of war, especially in light of all the propaganda and rallies about tossing the Jews into the sea.

    Unlike you, we like our heroes to be alive. As the Talmud says - if someone comes to kill you, kill him first.

    You asked for it, you got it…
