You can still find pay phones out there - course they cost around $.50 a call the last time I checked. I remember the bank of them at the mall, $.10 all you could talk! :)
At my son’s school all the pay phones were removed. Also, at an apartment building being built near me in Seattle there are no land line jacks being installed. Just connection fo high speed internet.
@wanderwolf: I did some searching and found out you CAN get a remanufactured rotary dial phone! They range between $70 to $150, depending on the model. If you want to take your chances, rotary phones on eBay are starting for as little as 99 cents.

Down here in Texas, we change slowly (mostly). So we do still have a few phone booths (though not many).
I’d like a rotary dial phone, though… much more durable than the touch-tones.
