Original strip was posted on May 9th (one day before the book came out), so there’s not much updating necessary. With two new strips a week at the website and daily updates here, we’re very close to catching up.

Geirgia, your book is just what I wanted. I’ve been trying to explain the charm and wit of BCN, but without a tablet or laptop it was difficult. Now, I can show my “non-wired” pals what I’ve been talking about. I love it.

Careful Elvis, you might sprain your fur if you poof too hard. As my perpetually miffed Maine Coon could tell you, it hurts when that happens

…Elvis looks like the proud dad seeing his daughter off on her own, only to find out she’s moved in with an unemployed musician (not that there’s anything wrong with unemployed musicians :) )…

I was wondering about cat in #3 also. Haven’t seen Burt in a while. It’s kind of hard to know where to go back and check. I would like to see Lupin in the sink too.

Poor Elvis! “Proud Parents” come with lumps-in-the-throat pre-installed, as most of us find out the hard way. But Elvis!! You should be glad that your little girl has such a wonderful, trustworthy companion at the bookstore! Oh never mind. There’s no talking to recently-empty-nesters.

That is Burt—and the guard dog Trevor is the dog who visits Burt and who made friends with bookstore cat Beatrice.

I’m a bit disappointed that the Trevor Beatrix reunion was just tossed in as a sidenote.

Then again, how could you really capture that much joy and relief in just ink and watercolor?
