Every time my mother went to Florida she would bring back a little lemon, lime, or orange tree. One time she asked me what type she should bring back this time. My response was, “Haven’t you killed enough?”
My tomatoes came from a kids’ school sale, in little Styrofoam cups. They looked ghastly, and I wasn’t sure they’d survive. Planted them in gigantic pots in front of the house where they’d get sunlight all day, and they have quadrupled in size in less than 3 weeks! Fresh potting soil, time-release veggie fertilizer, and they’re doing great! One of the plants has the beginning of buds for flowers on it, so I think I’m actually going to get real ’maters this year. So excited!
