I work in an R&D department where we are developing a “disruptive” product to an industry. In other words, I am part of a team that is developing a product that will revolutionise that particular industry. The automobile is an example of a “disruptive” item. Because of the development of the automobile, we have a more mobile society that has far more access to what was considered rare items to our ancestors. Dependency on horses for transport has diminished greatly with the loss of some jobs and health problems. (Buggy whips aren’t as needed, and disposal of manure from urban settings is no longer a problem.)
