What is so ironic was the left spread a fear campaign regarding Goldwater’s desire to dramatically escalate the Vietnam “conflict” with the end result to win quickly and get it over with!
The result was a decisive victory for LBJ, who during his campaign promised (lied) he would never escalate the war effort! Of course, he bungled the whole thing and we all know how that worked out…
