Boy: I'm exiting the mom and dad union. I want my independence from interference with my wishes. Man: Ok, kiddo, if you say so. But I think you'll find it's going to reek havoc with your economy.
Might also point out to the kid that, unlike the Brexit situation, there are no governing documents for this union that allow secession. Reminds of the strips where Calvin went browsing through the Constitution to find the provision allowing him to start school five days late, after being ill the first week of summer, so that he gets his full allotment of vacation. Or when his dad told him that the “polls” don’t mean a thing, he’s dad-for-life.
Additionally, I fall firmly into the camp of those literates who expect to see proper spelling and/or word choices in their cartoons!
