Alice: The jungle gym looks weird. Dill: It was in a big fight last night. Dill: Another jungle gym came sniffing around its territory and they started growling at each other. It quickly escalated into a full out tube slide swinging brawl. Alice: How do you know this? Dill: I heard it last night. didn't you? Alice: My dad said that was cats. Dill: Adults live in such a strange little world.

Aggressive, territorial jungle gyms are nearly extinct these days, due to ever-more stringent safety concerns. Once, they roamed freely, proudly over our city and village parks and school grounds. Now, only in the rich wonder of the imagination of Richard Thompson, documented and left as a gift for the ages, do we see these majestic yet fearsome creatures of a bygone era….
