I got curious about this.
A fairly slow breed of pet turtle, Gopherus, can walk 0.13 miles per hour.
Quite arbitrarily, I chose South 10th to South 18th street in Philadelphia, 8 blocks down Chestnut Street. Distance: 0.7 miles.
Doing the math, if he doesn’t stop for breaks Gopherus can walk 8 blocks in about 5 hours and 23 minutes. So he wouldn’t need to start in March!

I once had a snapping turtle in my driveway at my weekend place. When they want to, those things can MOOOOOOVE!
