Maybe Capt’n Crow is smarter than we give him credit for. He might be tricking Louie in to swimming from the shore to the ship, so although he will be wet when he gets to the bed at least he will be clean.

It’s called a leash.

I used to have a dog that used to pause and give me a head start. Every day about two blocks from home, he’s pause, and sniff things, and let me have a head start. Sometimes it was longer than others, but never enough, and he’d beat me home and tackle me in the yard every time.
