Why so blue? The Asian grass lizard has a 10 inch tail- more than three times the length of its body! The Fugate family of Troublesome Creek, Kentucky, was blue, due to a genetic skin condition known as Methemoglobinemia! US Park Ranger Roy C. Sullivan survived being struck by lightning seven times between 1942 and 1977!

Actually methylene blue tablets are the reason the trait (methemoglobinemia) has disappeared in Perry County. Blue skin can limit your choice of potential mates. Methylene blue tablets alleviated the condition and with normal skin color outbreeding resulted and the trait disappeared in the area.

Was it the clothes he was wearing that attracted the lightning?
Night-Gaunt49[Bozo is Boffo] about 8 years ago
No, he just seemed to be a lightning attracter, even to going down his chimney and being hit.

15 years ago on this date thousands of people died in the worst attack on the United States. Only 3 of the 17 strips that I read daily referenced this horrific event (Nancy, Maxine, and Wizard of ID). Why did Ripley’s not reference this event and honor those who died or those who helped those who did survive and tried to rescue others?

Roy was humorous in the early days about it. I don’t know how many times he had been struck in the mid-70s when we was on the “Johnny Carson Show,” but I remember he kept the audience laughing. In his country twang, he talked about, when he saw a storm coming up, he would say, “This is no place for Roy…” But it found him anyway.
