As to yesterday- I was lucky. I had discalulia, undiagnosed. My teacher’s explanations didn’t make sense often. But Dad had a Masters in Chemistry when I started school, a PhD by the time I was in algebra, and was a professor…. and willing and able to teach me different ways of doing it until I understood where I was going and could figure out each step for each problem. A teacher once got tired of me coming in, said I didn’t need to “understand” it, just “do” it. I couldn’t… something someone in the advanced track due to reading ability shouldn’t have happen, in her mind… Gil is lucky as well!

Only thing I didn’t like about the gold Sac coins was they tarnished so easily; not as spiffy after a while. Plus my experience when flying back and forth to Scotland while in the Navy in the 80s-90s: I have a sack of almost a pound of pounds, loose change I kept bringing back with me (the pound coins were/are slightly larger than a dime but twice as thick). The bills were messed up, too: different sizes to foil counterfeiters, but you had to fold some in half lengthwise to fit them in your wallet.

In the future when we have our ID/Credit chips using RFID embedded in the back of our hands, we’ll just have to wave over the receiver to make a purchase, so why bother with coins?
