Yep, cast iron pots are amazing, big fan of them.

Nah, not for me. They have a tendency to rust if one can’t find the time to properly maintain them…I’m fond of Corningware glass pots, myself.

I’ve a good, heavy, stick proof skillet that I swear by.

@Neo Stryker: it is bread that uses soda instead of yeast as a leaving agent. I haven’t baked any though. Have a blessed day.

Too much stuff for cooking for one. A stockpot, really? I use one at the church, but at home a six-quart dutch oven is big enough. Buy one frying pan, add other cookware as you feel the need. You can warm soup in a skillet just fine.

Ironware is not only not inexpensive, it’s not available. A Lodge skillet is useless unless you need an extra-large nutmeg grater, and it’s not cheap. To get a fryable iron skillet, you have to haunt antique stores and garage sales until you get lucky — and the odds are that the dealer knows what he’s got and prices it accordingly.

The new non-stick ceramic skillets are fine, and inexpensive. A 3 quart saucepan is good too.
