That day, and the days afterward, I would numbly work and listen to “Beethoven.com” and the DJ’s there would play requests, and the most inspiring one was of the Shubert’s Ave Maria…….I will forever remember that!!!
I see 3,000 faces. I don’t need a shrink, just a good preacher ( not that nut in Fl). Who knows, we may grow closer and stronger. Thanks THOM. We saw a lot of the good in America that day.
May the Lord bless those Canadians, Americans, British, French, and other nationalities that died on 9/11. May He lessen the grief their families feel, and may He use the tragedy to better humanity.
Doctor Toon, as I’m very certain you know, that is the goal of terrorism: to demoralize the enemy. Beating the enemy is the goal of more conventional warfare.
Of course, it’s gotten to the point where the lines have become very blurred. Individuals and terror cells now can wield tremendous power to destroy, quite apart from state governments. And it will only get worse…
(sorry, can’t get the coding to work perfectly for some reason)
Your comic strip is one of my very favorites; your imagination just amazes me. But today’s strip is just so humbling and wonderful and perfect. Thank you so much for it and for reminding us to never let this date become just another day. So how are you going to top this next year??
I was dressing for work (and already in RWB as it was an election day-probably a primary) and watching the news as I finished hair and makeup when the first plan struck, and we did not know what to make of it. By the time I arrived at work, I DID know and alerted all my co-workers to the TV in our conference room. We tried to start the day but everyone’s life was forever changed.
It would be VERY wrong to allow those who did this to erect a really tall building ANYWHERE in NY which will be obvious in the skyline. They can build where they please, but “we destroyed yours and you can’t prevent us…” it just is not tenable!
lin4869 you are right. if America denies its freedom of speech and freedom of assembly, it denies its freedom! what better way (IMHO) to celebrate America’s freedom than to allow Moslems who were wrongly blamed for what happened (as opposed to the terrorists who were quite correctly blamed - and were not true Moslems despite their claims) to build a mosque and cultural center in the area.

There is one prominent indescirnable face here today, and that is the face of Evil…

Actually there are tributes scattered through the comics today. Thom’s is probably the best drawn, though.

Very well done. Thank you. My father (who passed away in 1977) was also born on 9/11. I have 2 reasons to remember the day.

Hi Everybody,
Thanks for all the nice comments about today’s toon. Evidently, it’s more proof I have the best readers on the planet!
We all lost something that day, but fortunately, America still stands - as does freedom and love of our fellow man.
God bless the United States of America!

Sorry–as painful as it is, we’re either a democracy or not. Muslims also lost their lives in the Tower catastrophe.
