I bet Miriam’s mother was already dead in 2014. Why the long delay to get it sorted and sent at the post office?

Why would you pay a NSF fee on a check you stopped payment on?

I had one a few years ago. I got a notice about non payment of me electricity bill. I took the carbon of the check to them and showed them I had paid it. I wrote them another check and they did not charge me a late fee. About 5 years later I received a letter from the post office telling me that they had found the envelope with the check in it where it had fallen behind a table and they just found it. The destroyed the check instead of sending it back to me.
