Katy: What are you doing?
Adam: Trying on my swim goggles so I can... Oh! Ow!! Tight! Too tight!! Wow! They were bugging my eyes out! Why are they so snug?
Katy: Your head got fat?
Adam: "Filled out", Katy. We say it "Filled out".
No, “got fat” is much better. If you tell someone they “filled out” they won’t doing anything about it, but if you tell them they “got fat”, there’s at least a slim (no pun intended) chance they’ll work back to a healthy weight.
