Frazz by Jef Mallett for October 01, 2016
Transcript:
Mr. Spaetzle: Is it feed a cold, starve a fever or starve a cold and feed a fever? Frazz: I just know if your symptoms are above the collarbone you can train, but below the collarbone you should rest. Mr. Spaetzle: I don't exercise and I'm hungry. Frazz: Are you hungry up here or down here?

If it’s “down here” it was instigated “up here” in response to the brain’s acknowledgement of certain stimuli. I get it though, Frazz. You’re asking if he’s thinking of habitual comfort eating or is he maybe in real need of nutrition. A silly question, because he’s probably going to have a doughnut whatever the answer.

It’s “feed a cold, feed a fever, feed a broken leg, just BACON everything . . .”

Up here is just as hard to resist.

Okay, Catty. You got your superiority fix for the day. Knowing the answer doesn’t mean Frazz won’t give one with more positive results.

@bigpuma, you know, if you don’t like the strip, no one’s forcing you to read it.

Awright!!! Who left the door open!!!

Actually, it’s “Starve a cold and you’ll die of fever.” The idea being that you should make sure you stay well nourished when sick.
Horsetuna about 8 years ago
Why do you read the strip if you hate it so much?
JeffDM about 8 years ago
bigpuma seems to have spent a lot of work to rationalize being offended by this strip.

Frazz has obviously had experience with it himself and others he has observed. I am sure it is an exaggeration that Frazz “knows it all”. We just get what he knows himself in the areas he has knowledge. I tend to not comment on things I know nothing about unless I have a question. Maybe he does too.

It’s “feed a cold”, b/c the stuffy nose means food is unappetizing, and the sore throat means you don’t want to eat anything. And “starve a fever” b/c you need to be drinking more fluids.

It’s feed a cold, starve a fever. It’s also bogus:
