We have 6 cats. Cat / keyboard encounters are not uncommon and have resulted in some interesting emails and chats. Several of them think that pens and pencils are toys that must be swatted at when in use so there are usually interesting squiggles on cards and grocery lists. One of the cats likes to jump (at high velocity) onto paper to see if he can slide.
I had a cat that somehow KNEW when I’d go from reading on my back to reading on my stomach. He’d show up in a few minutes and plop down on my arms right in front of the book.
Cats’ll not only nudge your arm for petting, but love pencils and will try to get at them to bite them. I’d say reading AND writing are easier around a dog.

My kit cats sit on whatever book or paper I am looking at. I like to think they are helping me to read things!

This is definitely my dog, lol!

Yes, from time to time I have had to relocate a cat tail which has become draped over what I am reading or trying to write.

Red (and Brian) are clearly dog people, but that’s ok. With cats and dogs about the house nothing is neat and everything is covered in hair.

Are you kidding me? I can’t read or write without Macushla coming and pushing her head under my hand.

Cats do the same thing.

I don’t know about that Red. Maybe you should get Rover a cat friend to live with you all. You would learn something new! LOL!
My cats can amuse themselves for hours playing with pens and/or pencils.

No, sorry Red, cats do that an more.

Cats do that, too, Red. They also swat at your pen as you write, lol.

Every dog knows when you’re on HIS (or HER) time — and it’s MOST of the time.

ya, I know. I watch way too much TV.
Yes, you do and you are bright enough to know if I used the line exactly as the commercial says, the comment just wouldn’t be as appropriate…

I don’t like cats…
(I might have said this before)

That’s because cats lie right on your paper and you can’t write anything at all! Trust me; I have three of them—and a dog; and a bearded dragon. :)

He was a good boy.
