Bad social move: making puns that don't relate to the situation My wife just died. It's a cat-tastrophe!
Better choice: “Well, she always was pretty stiff.”
And if he says “I just lost my wife,”
don’t say “Well, do you remember where you saw her last?”
or especially, “Gee, you should have been more careful.”
Always a temptation…..
never correct.
Wow, that’s so cool! You know who also died today in 1642? Frederik of Nassau, count of Buren! He was slain in battle. Was you wife slain in battle? ’Cause that would be totally awesome!
But it does relate to the situation—and it’s even worse when you can see it that way
I hope his wife wasn’t named Catherine.
