I didn’t think Henry was still alive.

He was supposed to be adopted at age nine months, but the parents told him to go out an earn it.

Just search for Tristan Jacobson. His was placed in foster care but the family could not afford the adoption fees so he raised the money. His mother was an addict and could not take care of him.

I wonder about adoption fees. I was adopted in 1944 by my stepfather when he married my Mother. They just went to the courthouse one day and had it done. The fee must have been quite low because Mother was working at the base laundry and my Stepdad was in the Army and only had a Sergeants pay.I know that fees have been waived or substantially reduced nowadays in hardship cases. There are adoption days in courts where the lawyers waive all fees for families of limited means.

I’ve known about Heimlich having not performed his own maneuver before. I remember reading an article he wrote in Men’s Health magazine once with him mentioning it.

Glad he got to use it after all even in his old age. I hope he saved the person he used it on.

I was saved once by someone who used the Heimlich Maneuver on me.

Reminds me of an episode of Quantum Leap where someone is choking, so Sam does the Heimlich on him. The woman next to the choking man says, “Dr. Heimlich, are you okay?”
