    “In all of history, there is no more despicable character…” – Theodore Roosevelt of James Wilkinson, war hero and governor of Louisiana. He got away with things that Aaron Burr couldn’t.

    Burr lost his chance to take over the former Spanish lands now vacated further south. Killing Alexander Hamilton was the key to stopping that bit of nation building plans.
