I’d bet on it: The alcohol in the hootch killed his infection and he recovered with slightly slurred speech. Not good from a medical standpoint, but not surprising given the age of these comics.

You mean Tarzan didn’t run the horse till it collapsed and died; he’s usually pretty hard on the animals.
