A man reads that Donald Trump has nominated Rick Perry for Secretary of Energy, an agency he threatened to shutter when he was running for president. Man: Remind me, what's the difference between irony and sarcasm?
Wow, amazing how you manage to evaluate every single thing I know, do, and say without any real evidence whatsoever. Want to pull that back just a tad?
Here’s a pithy definition of irony:“the expression of one’s meaning by using language that normally signifies the opposite, typically for humorous or emphatic effect.”
When Rick Perry is up for Senate confirmation, I do hope somebody or other will ask him why he publicly said that Trump is unfit to be the commander in chief of the United States of America. (Probably it was the cough medicine that did it……..)
All but one of Trump’s picks have sworn to destroy the agencies or departments he’s picked them to “administer”. Not “Irony” or “sarcasm”, but TREASON!!
The irony is that the candidate who got the most votes from the citizens of the United States but that doesn’t count because there are more political subdivisions which have the most poorly educated bigots. Satire is that we are headed back to the unworkable Articles of Confederation. Irony is that the first stated reason for the Constitution (as stated in ts Preamble, is to establish a more perfect union than what it replaced.
I presume you intended “Swiss”, although considering their wine and beer production (but negligible exports), you may be right.
.
The real question is: is this the result of confederation (Canada is too), or is it the result of a militia military with no officer who did not work up through the ranks; four official languages (one of which is a first language of only 2%) and fluency in own, another official language, and a third language is required to graduate from high school; or the fact that long ago they managed to stake out a position as the world’s designated neutral in foreign matters? Surely you don’t think is is because less than a generation ago, women finally got to vote.

A situation can be ironic. Sarcasm doesn’t exist apart from someone expressing it.
