    A long, long time ago I taught myself BASIC programming and a coworker was complaining that her son beat her at backgammon fairly often. She brought me her five and a quarter inch disk (I told you it was a long, long time ago) that required you “hit any key to begin” to modify for her. If MOST keys were hit the game would proceed normally but if you hit a particular key it would give that player a double every third roll.

    Many, many years ago, I keyed in a BASIC program that played chess, very, very badly, and in text only. You had to use a separate chessboard. Also, when its king was in trouble, it would warp it to the other side of the board to get it away from the attackers! I poked around in the code and managed to fix the “warping” bug, then also gave it a visual chessboard using ASCII characters and colors. I wasn’t good enough to make it play stronger chess, though…

    Hey, all! There is a new app out called “Really Bad Chess” thst operates just like this! Maybe Jason grew up and go in on the app action!
