I would guess the Dark Spirit is taking Opus to a pound, where there may be some excellent dogs, whose days are numbered. Mutts have the best genetic diversity. And some are quite grateful to be rescued. But even at a pound, the adoptee may have to pay $70 or so, for shots and spay or neutering.

Or maybe Opus is destined to become a service animal. Of course, his odor might he an issue as he is unherringly fishy.
