Tips for the New GoComics:

 

Navigation Tip: Instead of right clicking the strip title and opening in a new tab|window as we use to do, right click on the speech balloon and open in a new tab|window. This way you won’t have to reload your comic page when you want to go to another comic.

 

Screen Name/Avatar: Click on your Avatar (top of the screen to the right of SHOP) and select MY PROFILE and click EDIT. Then you change your display name and/or update your avatar. Note: Your display name will appear in all caps regardless of how you enter it.

 

Editing a comment: Until you refresh the page pressing Ctrl + Z in the comment box will re-display your comment so you can edit it and then repost it (then you can delete the previous one). Note this does not work when using Reply.

 

Creating a Blank Line: Type Enter Enter   Enter Enter (  stands for non breaking space)

I find GoComics exciting enough. Time for my nap.

When you mouse over your comment a small red trash can appears over on the right, that’s the delete button.

I don’t find it at all funny.

My PC doesn’t work, it is dead and I’m allowed to use my daughter’s little laptop.. All is a little bit new for me… and now at GoComics it is the same… all new things I have to learn… I miss all my dear Sherpa Comics at a glance in my newsletter about my favorites! But I will have hope to learn soon and also to get a new PC too….

Sorry, maybe I didn’t understand right: There will be no Sherpa???

Oh no! That appears when I try to open the website http://www.gocomics.com/explore/sherpa:

“404 error – Oh, no! This page wasn’t found. We blame either gremlins or maybe one of the lesser, theft-based breakfast cereal mascots. You know which ones.”

No I do not know about gremlins or breakfast cereal mascots! That is not funny, really! I wish I could speak a better English to show my disappointness.. but who knows it is perhaps better for me not to speak English well.

Sherpa still exists, it’s just back on its old site. It’s like travelling back to the web as it was in 1998. Try http://www.comicssherpa.com and clicking from there.

I’ve complained about the constant sign in requests among other things, we’ll see if there’s a response. I won’t hold my breath as I didn’t think much of the reply when they took away the posting ability. Wouldn’t be half so annoying if it went back to the page I was on instead of redirecting to the home page

Is there any way I don’t have to click on comics that haven’t been updated? They are in my line-up – some are from last month.

My to-do list wears me out too.

Instead of doing replies that make people have to do the extra clicking I will simply copy what I am responding to. If you do the Reply function to someone’s comment hours after it was posted the chance that it will get seen diminishes.

Still HATE this new site, but I have less trouble today than I did yesterday. Of course, I have only visited 3 comics and made about 4 comments. The day is still young, so to speak! When I get on again tonight, we shall see. :-(

JUST FOUND SOMETHING ELSE I DON’T LIKE!! I had certain strips kept in Collections, such as “Little Dog Lost”, “Ten Cats”, “Bob the Squirrel”, “Snow Sez”, “Smith” and so on, etc. set up each in their own collection. If I found one I particularly liked, I would add it to it’s respective collection. Now WHAT IS LEFT of my COLLECTIONS are all dumped together, no order whatsoever, and many seem to be missing! I specifically emailed them about that before they made the change, “would I still have my collections”, etc. Of course, they NEVER answered me, had I known, I would have printed them all out so I would still have them!

And of course, all my Sherpa comic collections are GONE!

Got an email from Queen, she doesn’t know how to sign in and can’t get all her comics, I’ll see if I can help her.

Thank you Andrew Pilcher (SMITH) for your advice on how to access Sherpa. I had written yesterday to GC (2 days for a reply) about this. I need SMITH and GIRTH to complete my comics. Wonder if and when GC will answer.

I have a queue!

I think I’m starting to get the hang of the My Comics part of it, but there are some that I just read occasionally and it’s hard to wade through all of those now. I liked it much better when they were all listed on one page.

I think it is their way of telling people they have to be a GCINSIDER, that we may have all our “ducks in a row”, but they lost me the day they closed “the toy shop” and put the place on lock down. Would be taking a different view if there had been any indication that features would be coming back. Before ya know it the content will only be view able through Google glasses !
