Both parties have neglected the middle class, weakened their ability to lobby, nurtured and perpetuated ideological divisions to the point where ANY non-establishment candidate seems like an improvement … we get the government we deserve.
This will continue until we have some meaningful standards for candidates that political parties are unwilling to provide.
These are unhealthy times for the traditional “Press.” When the subjects of press coverage have such control it is a travesty. When they deny things they said, despite those things being on record, it is a disgrace. And it is dangerous that the public have become so devoid of good judgment that many often accept it. That is not freedom of the press as envisioned in our founding principles. The press are not meant to be false friends that endlessly flatter our preconceptions, but advocates and educators in a wider perspective — pleasant or not. Otherwise, people in the news will control “reality” to their own benefits, much more extremely than they do now, perhaps totally. I think Twitter posts from high government officials should be ignored by the press lest eventually that’s all those officials say. Get some backbone, professionals of the Press. Who will be first?

Too many in those key states voted without a net, and they’re the very ones who will be hitting the deck and landing in elephant poo, all to soon!
