Why is this a common capability for all the politicians of the slick hair and $5,000 suit species? I mean, you step on one of them, and 5 more pop up. Can’t someone invent an insecticide for these guys?

The ones who tell the truth are usually despised and laughed at and not voted on.

That’s among the biggest challenges of our electoral system – if you’re honest and transparent, you won’t last long. Let’s say there are two elected officials who make 5 comparable mistakes. One openly admits the mistakes as soon as he realizes he made them, taking full responsibility. The other tries to cover up the mistakes, and transfers the blame when the cover-up fails for a couple of them. So in the public eye, the first official made 5 mistakes. The second official’s administration made 2 mistakes, but underlings were responsible for the mistakes, and those underlings were fired as a result. Which one do you think has a better chance of being re-elected? Which one would you vote for?
