Actually, cats are an alien race that first appeared in ancient Egypt. Their planet was running out of food, and the went in search of a new planet to invade that had an abundant supply of food. They are the ones who helped the Egyptians build the pyramids, which is why they were revered as gods by the Egyptians. They have been with us ever since.
The invasion was successful. They learned that they can do absolutely nothing and be fed.
I can wet my fingers and flick them, and the cat disappears. One of ours flees at the vacuum sound, another follows it around the house. Go figure. The previous cartoon, about the cats not being able to decide whether they actually want to go through that door now that it’s open, is also right on. Gotta love ’em though. Hope we see another kitty arc in the future.

There is no other rational explanation.

Nothing causes a cat to retreat faster than getting slightly wet.
