Nat: Thanks, but I've really got to... Man: WANNA SEE MY BRAIN IN A BEAKER?! Nat: Your... Man: It's a brain, electronically stimulated by a computer to believe it's in its own reality! Nat: Wow. Man: The computer fakes its sensory inputs to make it think it's attached to a body! Nat: And the computer simulates an entire virtual reality for it? Man: Totally! Nat: Can we mess with it? Man: Well, it's complicated. Nat: Oh, I am so plugging in my iPhone! Man: That's NOT a good idea, Nat! Nat: This is wild! It LIKES this! Man: Um, you really shouldn't... Nat: Listen, could you go get me that wine cooler? Man: Oh. OK. Nat: ...and you could close the door on your way out. SO, next morning... I’ve tried really hard to get this one, and I still don’t get it. What’s the whole wine cooler thing about? (Who the hell drinks wine coolers?) Why does she tell him to close the door? Phone numbers and a John Mayer CD? This was from back when iPhones just came out, so maybe it seemed novel that you could have phone numbers & music on the same device… so… plugging it into a computer causes brain-in-a-beaker guy to mysteriously find himself with phone numbers on his hands and a CD?? Huh?
